History

The Goychay region is bordered by Kur-Araz lowland, Aran economic region, Ismayilli from north-west, Kurdamir from south-east, Ujar from south and Aghdash administrative region in the west. There are 1 city, 25 rural areas and 55 rural settlements in the district. The population density is 157 people / km². The largest settlements of the region are Goychay, Bighyr, Lakchild, Garamaryam, Charaka, Chakhirli, İnce and Garabagal villages.

The relief 

The Goychay region is located in the center of the Republic of Azerbaijan , in the northern part of the Shirvan plain , on the slopes of the Greater Caucasus . The district covers an area of ​​736 km², approximately 25 km to the south from the north and 40 km east to the west.

The district center is located in Goychay , 216 kilometers from the Baku – Gazakh highway, 18 kilometers from the Ujar railway station. Goychay borders with Ismayilli in the north , Kurdamir in the south-east , Ujar in the south, and Agdash in the west.

The material and cultural heritage
