Itinerary:
Day 1: Tashkent – arrival
Arrive in Tashkent. You will be met by my driver and transferred to the hotel. Check in to the hotel at noon. Meet your guide to start sightseeing in the capital of Uzbekistan, the biggest city in Turkistan (Central Asia).
Day 2: Tashkent – Bukhara
After breakfast, take a high-speed train to Bukhara, a city rich in history and culture. Once there, visit the Lyabi-Khauz Ensemble, a charming architectural complex with a historic pool at its center. Continue to the Magoki-Attori Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Central Asia that displays a combination of pre-Islamic and Islamic architectural elements. Witness the architectural beauty of Madrasah Abdulazizkhan and Ulugbek, two different but equally impressive madrasahs. Then, visit the Poi-Kalyon Complex, which houses the Kalyan Tower, the iconic symbol of Bukhara. After an eventful day, check into the hotel, enjoy dinner, and spend the night in Bukhara.
Day 3: Bukhara – Gijduvan – Samarkand
Start the day with a visit to the Ark Fort, an ancient fortress that was once the official residence of the rulers of Bukhara. Next, visit Bolo Khovuz Mosque, an elegant mosque known for its beautifully carved wooden pillars and peaceful atmosphere. Depart for Samarkand, with a stop at the Gijduvan Ceramic Masterclass, a place where artisans demonstrate traditional ceramic-making techniques. Enrich your spiritual experience by visiting Ziyaraat Imam al Bukhari (viewed from outside), an important pilgrimage site. Upon arrival in Samarkand, check into the hotel, enjoy dinner, and rest for the night.
Day 4: Samarkand – Tashkent
Start the morning with a visit to the Gur-i-Emir Tomb, the magnificent tomb of Tamerlane, one of history’s most influential conquerors. Next, explore the beauty of Registan Square, an architectural masterpiece featuring three madrasahs decorated with beautifully patterned tiles. After lunch, visit the Khazrati Khizr Mosque, followed by the Shakhi Zinda Necropolis, which features a stunning collection of architecturally decorated tombs. Then, enjoy a shopping experience at a local bazaar before taking the train back to Tashkent for the night.
Day 5: Tashkent
Enjoy a scenic drive to the Chimgan Mountains, located about 100 km from Tashkent. Take in the amazing views and, if you have the chance, take the cable car for a breathtaking panorama. Return to Tashkent, enjoy a delicious dinner, and spend the night in the city.
Day 6: Tashkent – Kokand – Rishtan – Margilan
Take the train to Kokand, a historic city in the Fergana Valley. Visit the Khudajar Khan Palace, an architectural landmark adorned with intricate decorations. Next, continue to Rishtan, famous for its colorful pottery and watch demonstrations by local artisans. Continue to Margilan, to explore the Margilan Silk Factory, famous for producing high quality silk using traditional techniques. Spend time at the local bazaar before dinner and overnight at Margilan.
Day 7: Margilan – Andijan – Osh – Bishkek
Start the day with a visit to the Babur Museum in Andijan, dedicated to the founder of the Mughal Empire. Next, cross the border into Kyrgyzstan for a flight to Bishkek. Upon arrival, enjoy dinner before checking into the hotel and overnight in Bishkek.
Day 8: Bishkek
Explore the capital of Bishkek with a visit to the Philharmonic Hall and the Manas Statue, which honors the legendary Kyrgyz hero. Visit Ala-Too Square, the famous city center, followed by Independence Monument and Old Square. Enjoy free time to shop at TSUM, a famous department store that offers a variety of local goods and souvenirs. End the day with dinner and overnight in Bishkek.
Day 9: Bishkek – Almaty
Take a flight to Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city, and visit Panfilov Park, dedicated to fallen soldiers. Visit Zenkov Cathedral, an architectural wonder built entirely of wood, and pay your respects at the Memorial Complex commemorating World War II heroes. Feel the excitement at the Green Market, the best place to buy fresh produce and traditional Kazakh goods. After dinner, check into the hotel and spend the night in Almaty.
Day 10: Almaty – Tashkent
Fly back to Tashkent and check into the hotel. Begin the city tour by visiting Friendship Square, Independence Square, and Eastern Amir Square, which are important landmarks that reflect the history of Uzbekistan. Experience the uniqueness of the Tashkent Metro System, known for its stunning Soviet-era architecture. Enjoy free time before dinner at Restaurant Nur and overnight in Tashkent.
Day 11: Tashkent – departure
Check-out from the hotel at noon. Free time until transfer to Tashkent International Airport. End of Turkestan (Central Asia) Destinations Tour.
