Quba-Qusar Tours (5 Nights – 6 Days)

Day 1: Baku – arrival 

Arrival in Baku. You will be met by our driver and transferred to the hotel. Check-in at noon. Free time.

Day 2 :Baku

Start sightseeing tour in Baku. Visit Martyrs’ Lane, called ‘Shehidler Khiyabany or Şəhidlər Xiyabani’ among locals. When you walk through Martyrs’ Lane, you will find a beautiful view overlooking Baku’s coastline. Continue touring new Baku and exploring architecture of 19-20 centuries: Nizami Street, Fountain Square, Nizami Ganjavi monument. Pay a visit to Azerbaijan History National Museum and move to the old part of the city – Icheri Sheher (İçəri Şəhər). Visit Maiden Tower (Qiz Qalasi), Shirvanshahs’ Palace, Caravanserai, and market square with numerous art studios and souvenirs stalls. An excellent round-up to the city tour will be visit to the richest bank of Azerbaijani carpets – National Carpets Museum. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Baku – Absheron Peninsula – Gobustan – Baku 

Today you will visit the area of the Greater Baku and Absheron Peninsula. Start with Gobustan National Park. Pay a visit to the Petroglyphs Museum and explore petroglyphs dating back to 10,000 BC. Continue to the mud volcanoes in Gobustan Reserve. Gobustan is home to almost half of the world’s mud volcanoes. Later drive to Ateshgah – a temple of fire worshippers located in Surakhany village. Zoroastrians travelled thousands of kilometers from India to Ateshgah to worship fire coming out of the earth. Continue to Yanardag Mountain, where natural gas has been burning for several thousands of years. Return to Baku. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Baku – Khinalug

Morning departure to the northern part of Azerbaijan – Quba region. Visit one of most ancient settlements in the country – Khinalug or Xinaliq (210 km, 3-4 hours). The road to Khinalug is a picturesque mountain pass at an altitude of 2,000 m. Enjoy breathtaking views of the landscape. People have been continuously living in Khinalug for more than 5,000 years. Return to Baku. On the way back, stop in Quba and visit Sakina Khanim Mosque, medieval bath hammam, and carpet workshop. Overnight at the hotel in Baku.

Day 5: Baku- Qusar – Laza – Baku

Today we can visit both Qusar and Laza. In the morning drive from hotel to Qusar.

Gusar

Gusar city is the last major settlement in the north part of Azerbaijan. It is called “The North Gates” due to its geographical location as it borders with the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation.  Population of the region consists of Lezgins – an original nationality, with a rich culture, characterized by hospitality.

Gusar is famous for Summer-Winter touristic complex – Shahdag, operating all year round. In winter it is a popular ski resort, and in summer – a camp site in the slope of the Greater Caucasus Mountains.

Part of the Gusar territory is included to the Shahdag National Park – the largest in Azerbaijan.

Cultural life of this region is very rich. There are a lot of musical collectives, the most popular is the folklore ensemble called “Lezginka”. “Lezginka” is a popular national dance in the entire Caucasus, performed accompanied by accordion and national percussion instrument – “nagara”.

Laza.

Laza village is located on the north-east of the Main Caucasian Ridge, at the foot of the high plateau “Shah Yaylag” and one of the highest peak of “Shahdag”.

Population of Laza mostly consists of ethnic Lezgins, whose history is closely connected with the Caucasian Albania, one of the most ancient states in the territory of Azerbaijan. Overnight Quba.

Day 6: Quba- Baku

Drive to Baku. Free time in Baku.

Day 7:

Departure.
