Agjabadi district

Etymology 

Agjabadi district – administrative and territorial unit in the Republic of Azerbaijan . The administrative center is the city ​​of Agjabadi . Agjabadi was a city type in the Republic of Azerbaijan from 1939 to 1962 . The central airport of the Aghjabadi district is 45 km from the Aghdam railway station, 374 km from Baku, on both the coast of the Gargar River, on the Mil and Garabagh plains.

The Agjabadi district, one of the largest agricultural districts of the Republic of Azerbaijan, covers an area of ​​17,656 sq. Km and its population is 128,100.

History 

The name of Aghjabadi located on the slopes of the Mil and Garabagh in the Kura-Araz lowland was first painted in 1593 in Aghjabadi and became the residence of ancient tribes. In the vicinity of Aghjabadi, remains of eneolithic, bronze, antique and medieval settlements and various grave monuments were discovered. In the graveyard of the Middle Ages, there are stone-shaped sheep-shaped heads. Aghjabadi is the territory of the 32-year-old Kabir, which is the base of Karabakh.
