This was reported in the Tourism Department of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic at the event held on the occasion of March 3 – World Wildlife Day.
At the event held with the participation of tourism industry representatives and tourism volunteers, the director of the department, Akbar Novruzov, said that Togrul Jafarov, an expert on ecotourism of the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau, together with an employee of the Tourism Department of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, visited Shahbuz, Julfa, Sharur and Ordubad regions of the autonomous republic, inspected the natural areas and places suitable for mountain trails have been evaluated.
Orkhan Jafarov, the leading consultant of the Tourism Development and Promotion sector of the Tourism Department of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, said that specially protected natural areas make up 28 percent of the territory of the autonomous republic. It includes 2 reserves – Arazboyu State Nature Reserve, Arpaçay State Nature Reserve and a national park – Zangezur National Park named after Academician Hasan Aliyev.
In the continuation of the event, expert on ecotourism of the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau Togrul Jafarov said that there is potential for active tourism opportunities in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Based on the assessment, 5 tourism routes were initially identified: Küku-Gurbulag waterfall, Küku-Ganligöl, Zorbulag-Batabat, Paragachay-Aghdara-Tivi and Pazmari waterfall.Creation of new mountaineering tourism routes and development of those routes were discussed at the event.
