The 12th Conference of Ministers of Culture of the Islamic World, held in Doha, unanimously awarded Shusha the title of “Cultural Capital of the Islamic World” for 2024.
In order to nominate Shusha for the title of “Cultural Capital of the Islamic World”, the corresponding mission of ICESCO was here, and the construction works carried out in the city were highly appreciated.
Under the leadership of First Vice-President, Goodwill Ambassador of ICESCO Mehriban Aliyeva, the Islamic countries, paying attention to the restoration of the cultural heritage, cultural, historical and religious monuments of Shusha by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, unanimously declared the city of Shusha as the “Cultural Capital of the Islamic World” for the next year. . It should be noted that the goodwill ambassador of ICESCO, Mrs. Mehriban Khanum, provided important support to the process of Shusha’s candidacy.
